Our Story

Before we ever understood what it meant to follow Christ, our lives were already marked by service, sacrifice, and a constant search for purpose. We were doing everything we knew to do—serving our country, building a family, and working toward a stable future—but something was still missing.

My husband and I were both raised in small towns in Wisconsin, and after high school, we each chose to serve by joining the United States Army on active duty.

Our early years were shaped by constant movement—different duty stations, long stretches in the field, deployments and the challenges that come with military life. We experienced it all: life in the barracks as single soldiers, the transition into marriage, and eventually raising a family while navigating hardships. Through it all, we didn’t yet know the Lord.

When our time in the military came to an end, we settled in Northeast Wisconsin, hoping to build a new chapter. Instead, we found ourselves feeling isolated. There was little support for veterans, and we often felt misunderstood—like our service and our struggles were unseen. We pressed on, earning our bachelor’s degrees and stepping into civilian careers. I became an elementary school teacher, and my husband served as a deputy sheriff. Like many, we pursued what we believed was the American Dream—careers, a home, stability.

Then everything changed in a single moment.

One night, on his way to work, my husband was hit head-on by a drunk driver. His survival was nothing short of a miracle. But the accident left him with a fractured spine and ended his career in law enforcement. In the aftermath, as he wrestled with pain and uncertainty, he began searching for purpose in a deeper way.

That’s when someone shared the gospel with him.

He made the decision to follow Jesus, and I witnessed a transformation in him that I couldn’t ignore. Over time, I came to faith as well, along with our children. We were baptized, and our lives took a new direction. The things we once chased no longer held the same value. Instead, our hearts turned toward something greater—living for God and helping others come to know Him.

Through prayer and conviction, we felt a clear calling: to serve those connected to the military—past, present, and future. We wanted to meet them where they are, to listen, to care, to share the hope we had found in Christ, and to walk alongside them in their faith.

That calling took a tangible shape when we were given a school bus. What started as a simple idea grew into a vision—a mobile space for Bible study, fellowship, and meals. Today, that vision is a reality.

We now serve ROTC cadets, National Guard members, Reservists, and veteran students at University of Wisconsin–Green Bay and University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh. We also reach out to homeless veterans in the Green Bay area and support service members at three United States Coast Guard stations along Wisconsin’s eastern shore.

Our story is still being written, but our mission is clear: to serve, to love, and to share the hope of Christ with those who have served and those who are preparing to serve.
