Who we are

Commissioned by God to Reach the Hearts Behind the Uniform.

Battle Bus Ministries exists to build meaningful relationships with active-duty military members, veterans, first responders, and their families through practical support, authentic community, and the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.

OUR MISSION

Battle Bus Ministries exists for one purpose: to reach past, present, and future military members where they are – mentally, physically, and spiritually – with the hope, joy, and peace of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

These are men and women who have committed their lives to serve others.

They show up when they’re called. They carry weight most people will never fully understand. And yet, so often, they walk through life unseen—wrestling silently, searching for purpose, or simply trying to hold it all together.

We believe they deserve more than a passing “thank you.”

  • They deserve to be known.
  • They deserve to be cared for.
  • They deserve to hear the Gospel that changes everything.

So instead of asking them to come to us, we built something that allows us to go to them.

What was once a school bus is now the Battle Bus—a mobile Bible study room and kitchen that allows us to bring the Gospel directly to military members and veterans. Inside, conversations turn into relationships, and relationships grow into discipleship. Lives begin to change as people encounter Jesus in a real and personal way.

Every ministry has a beginning

Before we ever understood what it meant to follow Christ, our lives were already marked by service, sacrifice, and a constant search for purpose. We were doing everything we knew to do—serving our country, building a family, and working toward a stable future—but something was still missing.

My husband and I were both raised in small towns in Wisconsin, and after high school, we each chose to serve by joining the United States Army on active duty.

When our time in the military came to an end, we settled in Northeast Wisconsin, hoping to build a new chapter. Instead, we found ourselves feeling isolated. There was little support for veterans, and we often felt misunderstood—like our service and our struggles were unseen.

This mission is not about a bus.
It’s about people.

It’s about the service member who steps on board carrying questions they’ve never voiced.

It’s about the veteran who thought they’d been forgotten.

It’s about the young man or woman searching for direction and finding truth for the first time.

We stand with those who serve, not just in words, but in action. To help bring the truth of Jesus Christ to places it might not otherwise reach.

We go where they are. We serve how they need. And together, we point everything back to Jesus Christ.

And we’re just getting started.

PARTNER WITH US

The mission moves forward because faithful people choose to stand behind it.

Every mile driven, every conversation shared, every Bible handed out, and every service member encouraged is made possible through partners who believe in bringing the hope of Christ directly to those who serve.

It’s not about the bus. It’s about the people we’ll meet, the hope we’ll share, and the Savior we’ll proclaim.

The bus is the vehicle. People are the mission.Jesus is the way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you’re learning about Battle Bus Ministries for the first time or considering partnering with us, we’ve answered some of the questions we hear most often.

If you don’t see your question here, we’d love to connect with you. Send us a message below.

The people we serve aren’t all in one place—and neither are we.

Battle Bus Ministries primarily serves active-duty military members, veterans, Coast Guard personnel, first responders, and their families throughout Northeast Wisconsin and the Lake Michigan shoreline. Many of the Coast Guard stations and military communities we support are separated by significant distances, making it difficult to establish a single, consistent meeting location.

The Battle Bus allows us to bring the ministry directly to the people.

Instead of asking individuals to come to us, we can travel to them—building relationships where they live and serve while expanding into new communities as opportunities arise.

The bus enables us to:

  • Host Bible studies at multiple locations
  • Serve meals and build community
  • Support outreach events
  • Provide transportation for individuals experiencing homelessness when appropriate
  • Transport participants to retreats and ministry events
  • Respond to ministry opportunities throughout the region

The bus isn’t the mission—it’s the tool that helps us reach people more effectively.

Yes.

Battle Bus Ministries was built on years of existing relationships.

Founders Travis and Meghann have faithfully served military communities through Cru Military, developing strong connections with members of the United States Coast Guard stationed throughout the Lake Michigan region. They have also partnered with Cru Campus ministries across Northeast Wisconsin, creating opportunities to serve college students who are preparing for military service or who are connected to military families.

These established relationships provide trusted access to the communities we serve and allow Battle Bus Ministries to build upon an existing foundation of care, discipleship, and outreach rather than starting from scratch.

While our primary focus is serving active-duty military members, veterans, Coast Guard personnel, first responders, and their families, our ministry often extends beyond those groups as opportunities arise.

Whether we’re serving at community events, helping someone experiencing homelessness, partnering with local churches, or responding to practical needs, our desire is to reflect the love of Christ to everyone we encounter.

No.

Battle Bus Ministries is a Christian outreach ministry—not a church.

We partner with local churches, ministries, and organizations to encourage people in their faith, provide discipleship opportunities, and help connect individuals with healthy local church communities where they can continue to grow.

There are many ways to become part of the mission.

You can:

  • Pray for the people we serve and our ministry team.
  • Volunteer at outreach events and ministry opportunities.
  • Give financially to support fuel, maintenance, and ministry programs.
  • Partner with us as a church, business, or organization.
  • Share Battle Bus Ministries with others who may want to get involved.

Every prayer, volunteer, and financial partner helps us reach more people with practical support and the hope of Jesus Christ.
